Enabling Copilot for organizations in your enterprise

Enable GitHub Copilot for some or all of the organizations in your enterprise.

Who can use this feature?

Enterprise owners

Enterprises with a subscription to Copilot Enterprise or Copilot Business

Owners of enterprises that have a Copilot Enterprise or Copilot Business subscription can enable GitHub Copilot for all, none, or some organizations within the enterprise.

For enterprises with a Copilot Enterprise subscription, enterprise owners can choose to assign either Copilot Enterprise or Copilot Business to individual organizations in the enterprise.

  1. In the top-right corner of GitHub, click your profile photo, then click Your enterprises.

  2. In the list of enterprises, click the enterprise you want to view.

  3. On the left side of the page, in the enterprise account sidebar, click Policies.

  4. In the " Policies" section, click Copilot.

  5. In the "Copilot is active in your enterprise" section, configure the access for your GitHub Copilot subscription.

    • To enable GitHub Copilot for all organizations in your enterprise, both current and future, select Allow for all organizations.
    • To enable GitHub Copilot for specific organizations, select Allow for specific organizations.
  6. If you selected Allow for specific organizations:

    1. Under "Access management", locate the organization for which you want to enable Copilot.
    2. To the right of the organization name, select the Copilot dropdown menu.
      • If your enterprise has a Copilot Business subscription, click Enabled.
      • If your enterprise has a Copilot Enterprise subscription, click either Copilot: Enterprise or Copilot: Business to assign a specific Copilot plan to the organization.
