Promoting a user from the user admin dashboard

1. As a site admin, sign in to your GitHub Enterprise instance at http(s)://[hostname]/login.

2. In the upper-right corner of any page, click .

3. In the search field, type the name of the user and click Search.

4. In the left sidebar, click Admin.

5. In Danger Zone, under Site admin, click Promote.

6. Type a reason for promoting the user account to a site administrator.
7. Click Promote.

Promoting using a command-line utility

1. SSH into your appliance.
2. Run ghe-user-promote with the username to promote.

Demoting a site administrator from the user admin dashboard
